Cake, cookies, pudding, ice cream \u2013 they\u2019re all tasty, but for me, the best dessert is pie. Cream pies, chocolate pies, fruit pies, potato pies? Bring \u2018em on. I\u2019ll eat \u2018em all. Except coconut. Never could get used to the texture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Sheila\u2019s grandmother made a great white sweet potato pie, but would not share her secret! She moved away and I can\u2019t get my yearly fix, so just before Christmas, we baked until we got the taste just right. Sheila baked \u2013 I ate. I could eat a whole pie by myself, no problem. I found the white sweet potatoes at the farmer\u2019s market, so Sheila could practice, practice. They have a milder, sweeter flavor than the orange ones and they\u2019re also good baked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"easyrecipe\"> \t<link itemprop=\"image\" class=\"ingredient\">3-4 large white sweet potatoes (yields 2 cups mashed white sweet potatoes)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">\u00be cup white cane sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">\u00bc cup brown sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teaspoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teaspoon pure vanilla<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 jumbo eggs<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">5 oz. evaporated milk<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">5 oz. half &amp; half<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 unbaked deep dish pie shell<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERInstructions\">\n<div class=\"ERInstructionsHeader\">Instructions<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Preheat oven to 425.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Peel, then cut, 3-4 large white sweet potatoes into two inch chunks, and boil until sharp cooking fork can slide easily into the chunks (about 20 minutes, but don\u2019t let them get squishy)<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Drain the potatoes thoroughly.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Beat with electric mixer until consistency of stiff mashed potatoes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">In large bowl, mix together 2 cups mashed potatoes and both sugars.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">One at a time, add sea salt, cinnamon, vanilla, eggs, evaporated milk and half &amp; half.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Mix until just blended.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Pour into pie shell.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Place on cookie sheet in center of oven.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Bake at 425 for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Drop oven temperature to 350 and bake an additional 35 minutes or until center is set and knife inserted in middle comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cool on pie rack for 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Serve with ice cream.<\/li>\n<li
