Sheila and I both love anything made with them \u2013 muffins, jelly, jam, syrup, cookies, pancakes &#8211; you get the idea. We buy as many berries as we can while the crop is at its peak, then freeze most of them to save for later in the year. There\u2019s a special shelf set aside in our freezer just for blueberries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">This year, we happened to buy a small watermelon during the same shopping trip, so this morning we made watermelon-blueberry smoothies for breakfast. Wow! They were great.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Here are two of our favorite fruit smoothie recipes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong><u>Watermelon-Blueberry Smoothie<\/u><\/strong> (pictured above)<u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Ingredients<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">1 cup frozen blueberries<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">2 \u00a01\/2 \u00a0cups cubed seedless watermelon<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">1\/2 cup watermelon juice<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">pinch sea salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Preparation<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Use 16 oz (or bigger) blender.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Make watermelon juice by squeezing\/straining 1 cup cubed watermelon through a medium-mesh strainer held over measuring cup. \u00a0Makes 1\/2 cup juice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Add blueberries, 1\u00a0 1\/2 cups cubed watermelon, watermelon juice to the blender.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Add pinch of sea salt to blender.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Blend until smooth, about 1 minute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family:
